🌱 Land Restoration Services

Restoring Minnesota land, one project — and one season — at a time.

When invasive species take over a property, they don’t just look bad — they change the entire ecosystem. They crowd out native trees, damage wildlife habitat, block sightlines, and make your land harder (and more expensive) to maintain over time.

Shadywood Tree Experts helps reverse that damage with long-term land restoration that brings your property back to life. Whether you’re a homeowner, an HOA, or managing public land, we create a multi-year restoration plan that removes invasive species and allows native vegetation to thrive again.

And we’re not talking theory — we’re currently contracted on a 3-year restoration project removing buckthorn, honeysuckle, and other woody invasives from the Innsbruck Park area. This project gives our team the chance to do what we do best: restore land the right way, with a clear plan and long-term care.

🌿 What Land Restoration Includes

1. Invasive Brush Removal (Year 1–2)

We cut and remove dense invasive growth — mainly buckthorn and honeysuckle — using controlled techniques that protect native trees.

  • Cutting stems 3–5 ft above ground

  • Clearing branches and regrowth

  • Stripping small invasive stems

  • Managing and removing brush piles (no mess left behind)

2. Herbicide Treatments Done the Right Way

Not every invasive stays dead after cutting — these species love to grow back. That’s why professional herbicide treatment is essential.
We apply:

  • Basal bark treatment in winter

  • Cut-stump herbicide immediately after cutting

  • Foliar treatments in certain situations
These steps stop the plant at the root and prevent regrowth.

3. Forestry Mowing

For large or overgrown areas, we bring in machinery to mow down thick invasive vegetation.

  • Clears big sections quickly

  • Helps native species get sunlight again

  • Reduces future maintenance costs

4. Long-Term Site Monitoring

Invasive seedbanks can last years in the soil. That’s why restoration is a multi-year commitment.
Across a 3-year project, we return:

  • To treat regrowth

  • To remove new germination

  • To keep the site on track toward full recovery

5. Site Cleanup & Environmental Protection

Throughout the process, we:

  • Keep trails and public areas clear

  • Ensure debris never impacts surrounding properties

  • Follow herbicide safety, signage, and reporting requirements

  • Protect native trees, pollinators, and wildlife

Our 3-Year Restoration Project: Innsbruck Park

Project Goals

  • Remove buckthorn, honeysuckle, and other woody invasive species

  • Restore habitat for native vegetation and wildlife

  • Improve visibility, safety, and trail access

  • Ensure long-term ecological recovery through seasonal treatments

Why Multi-Year Matters

Buckthorn and honeysuckle don’t give up easily. They resprout aggressively, and their seeds can sit in the soil for years.
Our multi-year approach ensures we’re not just removing the current growth — we’re breaking the cycle entirely.

Project Duration

December 2025–December 2028 (3 years)
Treat, monitor, repeat… until the land is truly restored.
